24 Hours After Surgery
Since you will be numbed and sedated during your surgery, you won’t feel any pain after as the numbing effect lingers for a few hours afterward. Gauze is packed onto the implant site to help stop the bleeding, which will slow after one to two hours. However, expect intermittent bleeding for a full day afterward.

You’ll experience some pain and discomfort when the numbing wears off, though you can mitigate the discomfort you feel by filling the prescription Dr. Casel may have given you. You can also take ibuprofen to help with the pain and apply ice to the side of your cheek near the implant to help numb the area.

3-7 Days After Surgery
You can begin to eat firmer foods about three days after your surgery. However, it’s still important to avoid hard foods till at least a week after. Mild to moderate exercise at this point is fine, though it’s important that you still prioritize rest to steadily recover.

You will want to continue rinsing your mouth and brushing your teeth, but you’ll want to avoid the implant site for at least a week.

1-2 Weeks After Surgery
This is typically when you’ll have a follow-up appointment with Dr. Casel and any stitches that were used will be removed. Your implant will have healed a great deal at this point, enabling you to eat hard foods and brush the implant. Most patients are fully recovered after two weeks.
