When it comes to taking care of your clear aligners at home, it is easy to manage. You have your whole setup and routine that you’ve been perfecting, making it a simple process. But what if you have a trip coming up that you have to travel for? It might seem like it’ll throw a wrench into your treatment plan, but here are four simple tips to ensure that you stay on track with your Invisalign journey.
Pack Your Oral Healthcare Essentials
If you have travelled before getting clear aligners, you’ve likely packed a dental kit, so you can continue taking care of your teeth. Thankfully, that same bundle you made will be helpful with your Invisalign! The only difference is that you may want to bring more of the items with you so you can ensure you’re never without them.
For instance, you may want to pack a travel toothbrush, mini mouthwash, and floss. You can have one set in the room you’re staying in, but make another one so you can take it with you while you’re exploring! That way, you’re never without the tools you need to clean your teeth and Invisalign trays.
Stick To Your Aligner Routine
A vacation is a great time to destress and leave all your responsibilities at home. You should enjoy your trip after all! However, you want to keep up with your Invisalign journey. Be sure to keep them in for 20 to 22 hours a day, so you don’t have any delays in your treatment. If you need to, you can set timers when you eat and drink, so you have a reminder when to put your trays in.
Bring Extra Aligners
Trips that last weeks or months can let you dive into the scenery and culture of where you’re going. You can still do that with Invisalign, but bring extra sets of your aligners! Your treatment plan may have you switch to a new pair every week or two, so keep your future sets in a safe place that won’t get damaged or lost.
Keep Bottled Water Handy
Air travel can make going to your destination easy, but some people may not feel entirely comfortable using the lavatory sink water to brush or rinse their mouths. Buy a few bottles of water beforehand so you know that clean water is accessible to you! Same thing when it comes to road trips. You may have long stretches where you can’t get water easily, or nearby gas station bathrooms might not be the cleanest.
Getting ready for your upcoming trip can be exciting! If you’re worried about how you’ll care for your Invisalign trays while travelling, follow these tips, and you can enjoy your visit while keeping your teeth straightening journey on track!
